CITY OF FORT WORTH SUMMER CREEK DRIVE AND MCPHERSON BOULEVARD ROUNDABOUT
In coordination with an adjacent development as a public-private partnership, the City of Fort Worth extended McPherson Boulevard (a principal arterial) to the west and connected Summer Creek Drive (a major arterial) to the developing area. Dunaway’s roundabout design was chosen by the City for its aesthetic value and its ability to greatly improve connectivity to the surrounding areas. The roundabout was designed to allow for a possible future expansion from four lanes to six lanes on McPherson Boulevard. Dunaway was responsible for the initial concept development as well as construction drawings for the roundabout.
In addition to the roundabout, Dunaway designed improvements to both McPherson Boulevard and Summer Creek Drive, providing enhanced access to neighborhood schools and relieved traffic congestion resulting from development in the area around the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Roadway design of Summer Creek Drive included a new four-lane segment from Risinger Road to McPherson Boulevard and two southbound lanes from Summer Park to Risinger Road. Dunaway also designed two westbound lanes of McPherson Boulevard from the adjacent school property to Summer Creek Drive.
In addition to our design contributions, our team provided construction staking and construction administration services, allowing Dunaway to monitor the contractor’s schedule and ensure work was completed on a fast track schedule.
